  • [Outline]For two years, students from Japan, Ghana, Mongolia, Bangladesh, and Nigeria studying at the Kyushu Institute of Technology design and manufacture CubeSats and familiarize a series of satellite technology from development to operation.Each country develops a 1U CubeSat, with a total of five 1U CubeSats being developed in the project. Thailand and Taiwan also participate in the CubeSat operation; consequently, an international ground station network covering the seven countries/ province is established.

[Mission to be performed by the CubeSats]

  • To image Earth with onboard cameras (taking images and videos above the participating countries with two onboard cameras)
  • To transmit music using the Vocaloid engine (transmitting music to amateur radio stations on the ground from the CubeSats)
  • To measure Single Event Upset using the microcontroller mounted inside the CubeSats (radiation-resistance evaluation experiment).

[Ground station operations mission]

  • To measure accurate location information according to time lags in communication between CubeSat and several ground stations
  • To measure upper atmospheric density (analyzing and deriving the altitude data obtained by location information measurement)
  • To verify the ground station network using amateur radio frequency bands.

Mission This CubeSat is designed for transmitting visual data of Tokyo 2020 Olympic messages in three languages, from space to the ground. These messages are displayed on an electric bulletin board attached to the CubeSat. And, two popular figures of a world-famous animation, Mobile Suite Gundam and Char's Custom Zaku, will be shot together with the messages with the seven onboard cameras. These images will be downlinked to the ground before and during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
