Four CubeSats successfully deployed from "Kibo"!

On December 2, 2022, following four CubeSats were successfully deployed from the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM) "Kibo":
  • BIRDS-5
    • PearlAfeica1 developed by Uganda Science, Technology, and Innovation Office of the President
    • TAKA developed by Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech)
    • ZIMSAT-1 developed by Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency (ZINGSA)
  • SpaceTuna1 developed by Kindai University

【Mission】
  • Measurement of basic reflective characteristics of retroreflective material sheets mounted on the satellite by irradiating a laser from the ground.
  • Orbit tracking by ground-based telescopes through observation of blue LEDs onboard the satellite.
