To provide a variety of benefits for the Asia-Pacific region by the “Kibo” utilization.
The Kibo Utilization Office for Asia (KUOA) was established in July 2010 to promote the utilization of the space environment of the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo" on the International Space Station (ISS) in the Asia-Pacific region, and to share the various values of Kibo.
Since 2005, JAXA has been promoting a variety of cooperative activities in the field of space environment utilization with organizations in the Asia-Pacific region at the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF).
The ISS program provides opportunities for undertaking exciting challenges in the spirit of international cooperation. From science and technology in space to education, it covers a wide range of fields that create rich rewards for humanity. JAXA is working on various initiatives to share the benefits of Kibo with its partners in the Asia-Pacific region.
Kibo-ABC: An initiative to promote the utilization of Kibo in the Asia-Pacific region
Asian Beneficial Collaboration through "Kibo" Utilization (Kibo-ABC) is an initiative established by APRSAF to promote the utilization of Kibo in the Asia-Pacific region and to share its value.
KUOA is the secretariat of Kibo-ABC, and the participating members are organizations in the Asia-Pacific region that have signed the Kibo-ABC Terms of Reference (TOR).
Kibo-ABC aims to accumulate experience and improve capabilities in planning and executing various multinational programs related to the utilization of Kibo; to spread awareness and disseminate information to researchers, engineers, and young people who aim to conduct space experiments; and to create bilateral cooperative projects with Japan.
