“Gxiba-1”, a CubeSat developed by the Popular Autonomous University of the State of Puebla (UPAEP) in Mexico, was handed over from the satellite team to JAXA at Tsukuba Space Center on 7 August 2025. The satellite is planned to fly to the ISS on HTV-X1 and then be deployed from the Japanese Experimental Module “Kibo”.

Gxiba-1 is the awardee of the 6th KiboCUBE programme, jointly conducted by JAXA and UNOOSA. JAXA’s engineers visited the university in Mexico in March 2025 and gave hands-on support to the satellite team for this handover to come true.
