Project

01

We have conducted protein crystal growth experiments onboard the International Space Station (ISS) over ten years. As density driven convection is suppressed in microgravity, we can grow high-quality protein crystals as well as crystals of protein-drug candidate complex. Precise structural information can contribute to improve drug design more efficiently.

JAXA provides fee-based package services including crystallization screening, sample quality improvement and X-ray diffraction data collection. Currently, we offer three to four space experiments per year. Users can choose 20℃ or 4℃ as a crystallization temperature.
