It is our honor to announce that the National Planetarium of Malaysia has become an official member of the Kibo-ABC initiative, following formal approval by all Kibo-ABC members on July 24, 2025.

The National Planetarium operates under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and plays a central role in informal education and the promotion of space science culture in Malaysia through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities and public outreach. Through these efforts, the National Planetarium is also involved in the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) Education Working Group (Education4All).

Malaysia has been a member of the Kibo-ABC initiative at the national level through the Space Agency of Malaysia (ANGKASA), and subsequently through the Malaysia Space Agency (MYSA), established through the merger of ANGKASA with the Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency (MRSA) in 2019. Prior to this institutional reorganization, the National Planetarium of Malaysia was already involved in Kibo-ABC activities through its supervision of the Asian Try Zero-G on behalf of ANGKASA. Following the 2019 reorganization, the National Planetarium remained under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and became a separate entity.
As such, the National Planetarium is not a new member in the strict sense, but rather a “welcome back” to the Kibo-ABC community. Moving forward, the National Planetarium will work strategically with MYSA to implement Kibo-ABC activities in Malaysia, particularly the Kibo Robot Programming Challenge and Asian Try Zero-G.

Mr. Mohd Zamri Shah bin Mastor, Director of the National Planetarium, said, “We hope that all STEM enthusiasts in Malaysia, especially those in the field of Space Science, will benefit from future activities of the Kibo-ABC”.
